The Global Islamic Tourism Conference & Exhibition (GITC), is a boutique event to showcase the potential of this
emerging sector of the industry and provide the venue for an intimate gathering of key industry players to
deliberate, transact and conduct business.
Taking off from the marketing effort during the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai in May this year, GITC is the
first exhibition and conference of such nature in Malaysia which proudly has long historical ties with Muslims
all over the world.
The GITC event focuses on exploring and celebrating the countries and cultures of the Islamic world and will also
feature attractions in countries where Islam is practised, though in a much smaller scale. New features in countries
such as Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom and Australia are among these destinations, while countries like
Brunei, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Bosnia-Herzegovina will have the opportunity to showcase their beautiful sites to
a wider audience.
The Hosted Buyer Programme at GITC brings exhibitors together with tour operators, leisure buyers as well as the
industry's most influential meetings, incentive and corporate buyers. To be expected are more than 50 Hosted Buyers,
trade buyers and trade visitors, international and local media, while a Consumer Day will bring in students and
academic professional from relevant Universities and Colleges to experience this unique display of beautiful
destinations.
Running simultaneously as the exhibition is a 1-day international conference where speakers will share their views
and findings on Islamic Tourism and its various definitions. It is our mission that the conference will be the road
map which results in the establishment of a Global Islamic Tourism Secretariat with the sole objective of maximizing
efforts at facilitating tourism promotion and value creation.
Most importantly, the event will see the launch of the 7 Wonders of the Islamic World, aimed at uncovering new
destinations and locations that either have an Islamic background, or are located in an Islamic-based country.
The exhibitions, conference, press conference, networking luncheon, dinner and cocktail reception are just a few
of the scheduled activities trade visitors attending the event can also expect to experience.
